Milestones of success

Established in 1979, the Emirates Block Factory began its journey as Al Wathba Block Factory. It was established by General Industry Corporation, which evolved into the General Holding Corporation. The early days were a period of rapid growth and the factory was equipped with the latest automatic machinery to produce concrete blocks required for the construction industry in Abu Dhabi. With exponential development of the construction sector in the country, it was found that the capacity of the factory was not meeting the demand from the market. A decision was made to install a new production unit with higher capacity. In 1997, another unit was commissioned at Al Mafraq Industrial area by acquiring the highly advanced German technology from MASA. The entire operation was controlled by computerized PLC systems. Equipped to deliver on the varied requirements of the building and construction industry, the new plant could produce masonry blocks as well as paving tiles. The factory produced top quality products based on the international standards BS: 6073 and BS: 6717 - for masonry blocks and paving tiles respectively.

Building blocks of achievement

Over the years, business flourished. And seeing the boom in construction industry and the increased demand for concrete blocks, the new management M/s Arkan Building Materials ARKAN under the present flagship of General Holding Corporation, a subsidiary of the Government of Abu Dhabi, decided to establish another unit at Al Mafraq and started production in April 2009. Outfitted with the highly sophisticated machinery from HESS Germany, the new unit of Emirates Blocks alone had the capacity to produce 75,000 to 150,000 pieces of masonry blocks and 5000 meter square paving tiles of different sizes and shapes every day. Soon in 1979, a third manufacturing unit was in operation in Al Ain, underlining the successful expansion of Emirates Blocks Factory. A vast majority of our customers are large and medium sized construction companies and federal and municipal organizations involved in public works.
